Now Rafael Sadowski (<code>rsadowski@<\/code>) has a new blog post out titled <em><a href=\"https:\/\/rsadowski.de\/posts\/2026\/dead-software-walking-relayd-and-httpd\/\">Dead Software Walking: The ongoing evolution of relayd(8) and httpd(8)<\/a><\/em> where he tells the story.\r\n<p>\r\nThe article starts with\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<strong>Start with WHY<\/strong>\r\n<p>\r\nAs I mentioned in my <a href=\"https:\/\/rsadowski.de\/posts\/2025\/openbsd-78\/#daemons\">OpenBSD 7.8 highlights<\/a> post, development of <a href=\"https:\/\/man.openbsd.org\/relayd\">relayd(8)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/man.openbsd.org\/httpd\">httpd(8)<\/a> had stalled. Many diffs appeared on the <code>tech@<\/code> mailing list from different contributors, but few were committed into the repository. The main reason was simple: Established OpenBSD developers weren\u2019t interested in these daemons anymore.
